3 Nigerian Companies to Watch Closely

Nigeria is experiencing a huge transformation in business. Three key companies have distinguished themselves clearly in our tough entrepreurial landscape. Let’s consider them briefly.

1. RED MEDIA AFRICA:

Nigeria’s leading digital media firm, Red Media Africa started 10 years ago with Chude Jideonwo and Adebola Williams as partners. The last decade has seen Red Media Africa grow from a ‘dwarf-unknown’ media house to the ‘giant-influential’ organization it is today, redefining how individuals and corporations perceive and utilize digital media. The RED summit was organized last week to connect and anchor high level conversations and solutions about the media in Nigeria and across the continent. The conference tagged “The Media in a time of flux” had Kenyan winner of the prestigious Caine Prize for African Writers as the keynote speaker. Other speakers that honored the event were David Sanders; the Executive Producer of Coke Studio Africa, Louis Otieno; Corporate Affairs Director of Microsoft Corporation, and former Governor of Rivers State; Rotimi Amechi.

 

2. GINGER BOX:

The ‘fruit company’ founded by Adekunle Jinadu is in the business of solving logistics problem bothering the delivery of fresh fruits, vegetables and healthy snacks to customers at home and in their offices within lagos. Jinadu, who serves as the C.E.O of the company acknowledged that Gingerbox is a product of the lesson learnt from Jaramail, an online mall he founded earlier, selling products ranging from cleaning supplies to packed food and fresh farm produce. Asked if the company is profitable, Jinadu concluded “We are growing sales weekly. There’s a need for our business. I am super confident about the future of the business.” Gingerbox’s activity was recently covered on African Startups by C.N.N.

 

3. SOFTCOM

Yomi Adedeji started Softcom to solve software problems and deliver transformational value to customers using technology. The company designs and deploys software and hardware for the automation of business operation to improve productivity. Clients like MTN, Covenant University and Forte Oil Plc, Softcom have benefitted immensely from Softcom. Covenant University had Softcom handle their social learning mobile project using the unique EduSocial app; an application that makes learning fun.
